2nd Annual Race to the Weekend Wheels 5k Walk and Run

WE'RE LIVE FOR YEAR 2!

PTSMC and Weekend Wheels are excited to announce the return of the Race to the Weekend Wheels 5k Run and Walk returning on April 27, 2024. The details are the same as last year, as it will begin with a start at 9:00 am beginning at the site of the Weekend Wheels office (110 Addison Rd Windsor, CT 06095). 

It is even more paramount this year that additional funds can be raised for Weekend Wheels as they have expanded the program to include high school aged students as well. In total, there are 60 families with 88 registered children that are currently collecting the benefits that Weekend Wheels provide, totaling 268 children within these families. This continues to be a cause near and dear to the hearts of many in the community of Windsor.

Dating back to 2013, Weekend Wheels was created by the Windsor Hunger Action Team to help fill the void of nutrients available to these children on weekends. Their goal is to keep their students nutritiously satisfied throughout the weekend and ready to focus and learn in school when they return back on Mondays. These food items include bags containing breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, shelf milk, juice, fresh bakery and fresh fruit.

Since it's inauguration, the Weekend Wheels Program has distributed over 25,000 backpacks filled with supplemental food to Windsor children in need. That is approx. 265,500 pounds of food - which is a goal we continue to help build upon each yeah raising these funds.
