Description
Join the National Foster Youth Institute for our 3rd annual NFYI Virtual 5K! There is no registration fee, however this is our fall fundraiser and encourage you to make a donation of any size and then run/walk/roll five kilometers in your community during the weekend of October 6-8, 2023.
Today there are 400,000 children in foster care. And this year, 20,000 young adults will age out of the system with little to no support. NFYI is making sure there are policies in place to give these children and young adults critical resources and bright futures.
The 5K kicks off the month of October — National Youth Justice Action Month — NFYI continues its #LostDaysJJ campaign, an opportunity to raise awareness about overreaches in juvenile justice, the need for greater accountability and diversion programs, and to lift up the voices of justice-involved youth.
There will be a fundraising challenge; two prizes will be awarded 1) for the top fundraiser and 2) a random drawing for a former foster youth, ages 18-30. Swag will be provided to participants who raise/donate at least $25 (race medal); $50 (medal & t-shirt); and $100+ (medal, t-shirt, swag bag).
