Description
Most offenders of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking face zero consequences for their crimes. We can change that.
Since 2009, AEquitas has been helping prosecutors across the country better keep victims safe and hold offenders accountable. Named after the Roman goddess of equity and fairness, AEquitas was established to support prosecutors in their individual and collective efforts to achieve justice in intimate partner violence, sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking.
The 2023 Champions for Justice Relay Marathon is a totally virtual event, and all proceeds go to AEquitas' work to bring survivor-centered justice and safety to victims of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking. AEquitas "helps the helpers" in our justice system, providing critical trainings, offering individualized consultations, and developing robust publications highlighting innovative strategies for prosecutors and others who respond to these crimes.
VIRTUAL EVENT
AEquitas is proudly headquartered in Washington, D.C. -- but this event is 100% virtual! You can run, walk, swim, bike, or pogo stick in any location in the world with anyone in the world on your team.
A virtual race is a race that can be run at your convenience during a specified period of time. AEquitas typically fields a live team at the fastest track in the world -- the NYC Armory -- but we’ve innovated in the pandemic, with the 2021, 2022, and 2023 races being virtual.

ABOUT THE RACE
Compete in this virtual 26.2 mile marathon solo or as part of a team!
Typically, teams of 2-8 (friends, colleagues, neighbors, family) will complete a full marathon. For runners looking for a shorter course, join or form our Team of 26, where each runner completes 1 mile (and team captains complete 1.2 miles).
Not a runner? You can also walk, bike, swim, hike, or surprise us with another creative way to move! Help advance our urgent mission to increase access to justice for survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking by educating and supporting prosecutors from law school to electeds.
