Due to the recent pandemic we will not be hosting the July 4 Firecracker 5K this year. We apologize for any inconvenience and are willing to refund or transfer your payment to the 2020 Omni Turkey Trot 5k that we anticipate to offer this fall. Please select from both provided options.

Firecracker 5K

Location: Omni Amelia Island Plantation 
                 6800 First Coast Highway 
                 Amelia Island, FL 32034 

This chip timed race will start and finish at Omni Amelia Island Plantation’s Racquet Park, located next to the Verandah restaurant. Enjoy a scenic run, meandering through the beautiful, tree-canopied resort. Located at 6800 First Coast Highway.

Running or walking is acceptable, strollers are welcome. No animals or bicycles on course. 

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the McArthur Family YMCA. Drop off entries at the McArthur YMCA, Health & Fitness Center or mail to: OAIP Health & Fitness Center, Attn: Sara Gaslin 39 Beach Lagoon Road, Amelia Island, FL 32034. 5K Entry fee before June 4: $25 per adult, $15 per child (12 and under).
5K Entry fee June 5-20: $30 per adult, $20 per child (12 and under).
5K Entry fee June 21-July 3: $35 per adult, $25 per child (12 and under).
5K Entry fee Race Day: $40 per adult, $30 per child (12 and under).

Pre-registered participants can pick-up race packet on July 3rd,2pm-7pm at the Racquet Park conference room. Packet Pick-up will also be available on race day at race site. 

Packet pickup will take place on race day at race site from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.

6:30 a.m. – Registration & Packet Pick-up opens
8:00 a.m. – 5K Race Start
8:45 a.m. - Kid's Fun Run
9:15 a.m. – Awards Ceremony 

Shirts are guaranteed for all pre-registered participants. Shirts not guaranteed on race day.

This 5K Run/Walk is run on the road.

Medals for top 3 overall males, top 3 overall females, top 3 male and female age groups will receive awards. Age groups include 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & older

Parking is plentiful next to the race start location. The race starts and ends at the same location. 

5K Race will be timed and scored with a disposable chip provided, which will be attached to the back of the bib.


How long is the course?
The 5K is 3.1 miles.

How will I be timed?
The race uses an electronic timing system that records race time and place via a transponder chip that will be given out at registration. Each individual competing in the 5K is required to use the race chip. Official times will not be recorded without a chip. There will be a clock at the finish line to view your time.

How will I receive my results?
Official results are posted for the top runners in each category, race staff has all results for on-site inquiries and results are posted on the race website.

Can I use my own race chip or tag rather than utilizing the one that is provided?
No, you will be provided with a custom chip.

Who gets a T-shirt?
Only pre-registered runners who sign up by June 21st are guaranteed to receive their race shirt and preferred size. Pre-registered runners that sign up after June 21st are not guaranteed a shirt the day of the race. There will be limited sizes available for walk up registrants and these individuals also are not guaranteed their race shirt the day of the event. 

What if I need help along the way?
Qualified emergency medical professionals are available to provide assistance at the start/finish lines.

Can I participate in the event with my dog?
Sorry, as much as we love our pets too, the safety of participants is our main concern. Therefore, we do not allow pets on the course.

Can I participate with a stroller?
Yes, nurturing future generations of runners is a priority and demonstrating healthy lifestyles to our kids is special. Please, however, start in the later part of the runners.

Should I bring my own water?
Yes, but there will be a  water station on the course as well at the finish.

Can I get my money returned?
We appreciate your race registration. We are unable to issue refunds. We are not in a position to credit your credit card or issue checks.

Will the race be held if it's raining?
The race is a "rain or shine" event. All participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, such as in a rain coat or hat. Umbrellas can pose a safety hazard to others, so please do not bring them.

What will be provided after the race?
An awards ceremony will take place after the race at at the start/finish location.

Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
We have a strict NO TRANSFER policy.

Free parking is available.
