Hops, Hounds and Halloween 5K and VyStar Fun Run Event Notification
New Date: February- Chasing Tail 5K
We hope this message finds you well. We regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel The Hops, Hounds and Halloween event due to Hurricane Milton. While the impact may not be as severe for the Jacksonville area, the resources to support the race will be spread thin, flooding is expected and several areas have been evacuated. But the good news is we still have a race for you! We are deferring all runners to our Chasing Tail 5K in February so that you can still have a doggone good time!
We would like to extend a free day pass to you and your furry friend on behalf of the Kanine Social team. Aardwolf created a custom beer for the race, Paultergeist Pilsner (named after Aardwolf pup Paul Walker, which we will be selling in the tap room. All proceeds will go to Hurricane Milton relief.

Join us October 12th for a spooky doggone good time! Kanine Social is excited to bring you our third annual Hops, Hounds and Halloween 5k to support the Jacksonville Humane Society and dog costume contest. Our last 5k and fun race had over 250 participants, lets top that! Walk or run the course and make sure to dress up your pup for the costume contest! This is a dog friendly run, so bring your dog to run or walk with you or let your dog hangout at Kanine Social’s private dog park with a friend while you race.
New this year, we will be offering a runners only wave to kick off the race. So if you are looking to PR without your furry friend, you are going to have an open course to hit those goals!
Before getting to the start line, we want to see those costumes! Judging will take place at 8:00 am and the race will start directly after. The courses will start and finish at Kanine Social and the 5K will consist of a marked 3.1 mile course with dog lanes and water stops. We will be scoring all winners based off ‘chip time’. All runners will receive an official ‘chip time’ based off the time they individually cross the start line to their finish.
Make sure to stay around after the race for the after party and awards ceremony! There will be live music, local vendors and food trucks for all to enjoy.

Hops, Hounds and Halloween 5K entry to event, exclusive race shirt and logo pint glass, 1 beer or soda, 1 day pass ($15 value) to Kanine Social’s private indoor/outdoor dog park, raffle ticket for prizes and a finisher’s medal. *Race Shirts Guaranteed for the first 250 runners.

8:05 a.m. EST- Pet Costume Contest
8:45 a.m. - Hops, Hounds and Halloween 5k (runners with dogs)
9:30 a.m. EST- VyStar Credit Union Fun Run starts
9:00-11:00 a.m. EST- After party with live music, awards ceremony, vendors, food trucks more! Awards are scheduled for 9:45 however times are subject to change due to race day events or weather.
RACE AWARDS
Overall Awards will be presented as follows: Overall winners will receive a FREE annual park membership to Kanine Social ($395 value).
Men - 1st Place
Masters Male - 1st Place
Women - 1st Place
Masters Female - 1st Place
AGE GROUPS - 10 YEAR INTERVALS
Age group awards will be presented to the top man and woman in the following age groups:
0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

EVENT PARKING
Primary parking is available at the Florida Blue Parking Garage located at 800 Forest Street, Jacksonville, FL 32204. There is additional street parking available throughout Riverside.
PACKET PICK UP
You may pick up your race packet at Kanine Social from 4pm to 8pm the week of the race and have half price beer while you wait (10/9/24 thru 10/11/24). Race day packet pickup is available from 6:00-7:30 am but please be patient as the lines can be longer.
