Lace up for our heroes! Join us for the highlight of Monroe County’s annual First Responders Week, dedicated to raising vital awareness and support for the mental health challenges faced by first responders due to job-related trauma.

DATE: Saturday, January 10, 2026 TIME: 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM
LOCATION: Truman Waterfront Park (Near the Coast Guard Cutter Ingham), Key West, FL 33040

THE COURSE & COMPETITION
SCENIC RUN/WALK: Participants will complete three scenic laps around the park, offering views of the historic Coast Guard Cutter Ingham. Open to all ages.
THE "SUPER EIGHT" CHALLENGE: Eight separate teams compete honoring the service of: 911 Dispatchers; Correctional Officers; Correctional Probation Officers; Crime Scene Investigators; EMTs, Paramedics & Nurses; Firefighters; Law Enforcement Officers; and the USA Armed Forces.
SPECIAL PARTICIPANTS: Look out for MCSO Bureau of Corrections Major Tim Age, Captain Crane, and Lieutenant Rice, who are all participating in the 5K. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Lieutenant Jeremy Munkelt has also entered the race!
AWARDS & RECOGNITION
ALL participants who complete the 5K will receive a finisher medal.
Officer Alioht Valdes Marrero Perpetual First Place Team Trophy: Presented by Key West City Commissioner Donald 'Donie' Lee to the winning "Super Eight" team.
Team Awards: Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay will award trophies and medals (gold, silver, bronze) to the top 3 first responder teams in the Super Eight challenge.
Individual Medals: Awarded to top overall and age-group winners.
YOUTH VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION: MCSO Bureau of Corrections Major Tim Age will recognize the invaluable contributions of our youth volunteers, including individual members of the Florida Keys Sea Cadets and Sigsbee Charter School National Junior Honors Society, by handing out signed certificates of achievement and hero medals to all of the children volunteering to support the 5K.
SCHEDULE & LOGISTICS
PACKET PICKUP:
Friday, January 9th (5 PM - 7 PM): Fit2Run "The Runner’s Superstore" at 211 Duval Street.
Race Day, January 10th (6:00 AM - 7:30 AM): Truman Waterfront.
RACE DAY SCHEDULE:
Opening Ceremony: Featuring Bishop Jonathan Carey praying for the wellbeing of all first responders.
After the Race: Refreshments and a raffle will be available. Participants are encouraged to cheer on and join the Wounded Warrior Project Soldier Ride community ride in Key West after closing ceremonies.
PERKS & SUPPORT
T-SHIRTS: The first 200 entrants will receive a free t-shirt, and a souvenir customized drawstring backpack and all participants who complete the 5K in 1 hour will receive a 5K finisher medal.
CHARITY SUPPORT: Save Our First Responders is a program of The Florida Correctional Officers Association, Inc., a 501(C)(3) public charity. Donations are tax-deductible.
