Description

Family Fun... in remembrance of Andrew Stephens.

Join us for Run/Walk 5-K around the spokes of the Sebring Circle, downtown. We will also have a Youth 1 Mile Run and a Kids’ Run around The Circle. There will music, vendors, and tons of fun.

All proceeds to benefit The Andrew Stephens Memorial Fund. The fund has been created by Andrew’s family to support and give back to our local youth and their activities.

On November 10, 2018, our family’s trajectory/future was forever changed when our son, Andrew Stephens, was tragically killed by a drunk driver.  Andrew was only 14 years-old.  Nothing in life can prepare you for such a loss.  It has taken time and reflection, but, from Andrew’s death, our family has gained strength, grown in love, and found new joy in remembering his life.

Andrew was full of life.  His two great passions were making people laugh and spending time outdoors.  He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and an athlete.  Andrew was always willing to help out – chainsaw in hand, he assisted with clearing after the hurricanes.  Elderly neighbor in need?  Andrew would jump in to help delivering groceries or other necessities.  A hometown boy at heart, Andrew often rode his bike to Sebring’s historic Circle to meet friends to grab lunch at one of the local restaurants.

Much of our family’s journey toward joy has been to find ways to celebrate Andrew’s life and legacy.  With that goal in mind, our family has created The Andrew Stephens Memorial Fund.  Andrew’s Run will incorporate many of Andrew’s loves:  athleticism, spending time outdoors, and the celebration of his hometown of Sebring.

The goal of The Andrew Stephens Memorial Fund is to sponsor events that will provide opportunities to the youth of our community.  It is the wish of the Stephens Family to emphasize opportunities grounded in local industries, including agriculture and other pursuits, that encourage kids to remain in Highlands County in competitive and fulfilling careers.
