Description
Students Speak up for Kids is a nonprofit organization that advocates for children with Palm Beach County's foster care system. Specifically, they serve as representatives to those without a voice, fighting against disadvantageous circumstances within these institutions. In addition, they facilitate campaigns within the local community to raise awareness for the preventative efforts against child abuse and youth violence. Suncoast was amongst the organization's pilot school chapters, and was arguably amongst the most successful. We raised awareness of the April Blue Out Campaign known as Pinwheels for Prevention, gaining news coverage of our efforts across our schools campus and within the local community.
This year, our goal is to expand our message to a greater proportion of members within the local community. As such, the April Blue Out 5k is a way for members of neighborhood schools and residents to participate in a fun event while educating themselves about the fight against child abuse in both Palm Beach County, Florida, and the Nation as a whole. There will be age group and gender stratified award categories. In addition, there will be fun activities for children and families to participate in, and a variety of food options.
