Description

Date:  Saturday, May 3, 2025 and Sunday, May 4, 2025

Location:  2529 Cady Way, Winter Park, FL 3292

Start times:  Marathon:  5:30.  Half Marathon:  5:40.  10K and 5K:  7:00  (Sunrise is at 6:43):

Course time limit:  9 hours

DESCRIPTION:  If you’re looking for a PR-setting race, great age-group awards, or lots of goodies, this is probably not the one for you. The course consists of a small out-and-back in a parking lot and longer out-and-back on a heavily-used paved, urban run/bike trail. There are two street crossings that you are responsible for crossing safely. So…maybe not the best setting if you’re looking to set a PR.  However, if you want a casual, fun event with no time pressure, but lots of encouragement, our no-frills, low-key events might be just what you’re looking for.

We DON’T promise t-shirts, bling, chip timing, age group awards, exciting music, cheering crowds, hot food, reusable race bag, filled goody bag, or any of the other stuff you find at big races.

We DO promise low entry fees, an accurately measured course, diligent hand timing, a finisher’s medal, a posted finish time, and a warm welcome. Everything that’s important!

COURSES: The courses are lap courses on a paved, urban run/bike trail that is partially shaded. There are two street crossings that you are responsible for crossing safely. The marathon/half marathon course is approximately 2.2 miles per lap: marathon is 12 laps, half marathon is 6 laps. The 5K and 10K lap is approximately 1.55 miles per lap: 10K is 4 laps, 5K is 2 laps. You are responsible for keeping your own lap count. To make it easier to keep track, we will provide rubber bands that you may put on your wrist or a carabiner each lap.

START/FINISH/AID STATION: The aid station is at the start/finish location, which you will pass this twice each lap. Even though we are a no-frills event, we will provide chilled water, Gatorade, Coke, Diet Mountain Dew, and sweet and salty snacks. In hot weather, we will also have pickles, olives, and pickle juice. We'll also have a table for your water bottles. See below.

FINISH LINE: When you finish, you must let the timer know you’re finished and place the tear-off tab from your bib on the ticket spike for your distance. Without these, you won’t get a finish time—or at least not an accurate time. Remember we are hand-timed—no timing chips! We don't know to record your time if you don't tell us you're done.

CUPLESS:  This is a cupless (almost) race. Please bring your own hydration device.

LIGHT: The 5:30 starters (full and half) will need a light for the first half hour. (We start as early as we can to avoid the heat.)

VOLUNTEERS: We always need volunteers. Each full volunteer day earns a free long run (half marathon or full marathon) or two short runs (5K or 10K).

Parking:  There is plenty of parking at the race location. We'll have signs out and you may look for the Cady Way Swim Club.
