The 1-mile is an untimed event. Come and walk as much as you can up to 1-mile.

Virtual 5K

Run your 3.1 miles anywhere. Virtual runners are not eligible for race day awards.
Submit finish time by 12 Noon on April 5th using the results tab on this page.

Outpace Parkinson's  is the tenth annual 5K supporting Parkinson's research through the Michael J. Fox Foundation. It takes place on 5 April 2025 at Sandy Creek Park in Athens, Georgia. Runners can participate either on-site or virtually.  For details about the race, please go to: pdathens.com. 

My wife Jane, who collaborated for eight years in organizing the 5K, died with Parkinson's Disease in August 2023. Although there is no known cure, Jane benefited greatly from the  therapies developed as a result of the Fox  Foundation's research. As the Foundation moves beyond therapies towards a cure, others, like Jane, can benefit as well. . Please give generously at this website. 100 percent of your donation will go straight to MJFF's research efforts to speed a cure and improve the lives of those living with PD today.  

Packet Pickup and Race Day Registration will take place in Pavilion #1 at Sandy Creek Park.

5K Awards: Awards will be presented to Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female, Grandmasters Male/Female
and first, second and third place in 10-year age groups beginning with 10 and under and going through 80 and over.

Virtual runners are not eligible for race day awards.

T-shirts will be available for runners registered by midnight on March 21st. T-shirts will not be guaranteed after March 21st.  

Shirts for virtual runners may be picked up from the home of Jack Armistead on Sunday, April 6th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. T-shirts will not be mailed to participants in the Athens-Atlanta area. 

The 5K course at Sandy Creek Park is run entirely within the park on paved surface.  The course is USATF Certified  GA19043DJ.

The Outpace Parkinson's 5K is proud to be a member of Black Bag Race Series and Clover Glove Race Series.  

Finishline management is provided by Classic Race Services.

We get wet!  In the event of storms the start may be delayed in 15-minute increments.  Sorry, no refunds due to weather.
