Description
What are your fitness plans for this holiday season?
Does staying motivated to be active and raising money for charity sound like a good idea? Then this challenge is for you!
GFWC Illinois Coal City Junior Woman's Club challenges you to set a goal to Run - Walk - or Bike a 5k, or complete 100 or 200 total miles of activity through the holiday season!
Our Club has not been able to do all of our fundraising due to covid the past couple years. Our business partners have also been hit, and were unable to donate to our organization. We have had to downsize our projects list to help offset the new reduced budget. You can imagine that breaks our heart because everything we do is so worth while. Truly, anything donated is greatly appreciated by our group of caring women!

Charity
100% of all donations and proceeds from this event benefit GFWC IL Coal City Junior Woman's Club and will go directly to the community projects we are supporting for the 2022 Holiday season. GFWC IL Coal City Junior Woman's Club was formed in 1952 and is a member of the world wide General Federation of Women's Clubs. We are a non profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization that strives to make our community a better place by a desire to create positive change now and in the future.
These are the projects for this fall that this event is supporting:
OPERATION FAMILY
The GFWC IL Coal City Junior Woman's Club donates $25 Gift Cards to the Coal City Police Department. The Police in turn hand out the Gift Cards to people they meet in different situations during officer calls. They have the option to give them as many Gift cards as the officer deems necessary. Sometimes it's only 1 $25 Gift card, other times it's 4 Gift cards (especially if there are children involved). It is up to the officer's discretion and the need of the individuals. This is a year round project for the Coal City Juniors.
BIRTHDAY BAGS FOR CHILDREN AND WOMEN
The GFWC IL Coal City Junior Woman's Club members provide party gift bags filled with cake, frosting, birthday banner, balloons, card, plates, napkins, and all the fixings for a birthday party. For the women, the gift bags are filled with a card, bath gel, nail polish, razors, candle, and other personal feminine items. This is a year round project for the Coal City Juniors.
COMFORT BAGS FOR FIRE AND POLICE
The GFWC IL Coal City Junior Woman's Club provides a small soft security blanket and stuffed animal in sealed bags for the Coal City Fire and Police Departments. Each ambulance and patrol car is equipped with 4 bags each, 2 girl and 2 boy bags per car. If there is an emergency with a child involved, the child will receive a security blanket and animal to help ease their fear and confusion, and bring a sense of calm and security. This is a year round project for the Coal City Juniors.
