Description
Princess Addy has been fighting against leukemia since June 25th, 2017. Adelyn Jones - age 5, the daughter of Eric and Olivia Jones of DuQuoin, was diagnosed with B-ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia). She has learned firsthand how hard living can be with cancer. It's more than the multiple days in the hospital, multiple trips to the clinic, "pokes", "sleepies", etc. It changes almost all aspects of life that one can't understand unless you live it. This little princess is a fighter - from many PT visits to regain strength so she could walk again without falling to enduring months of isolation at home because of having no immune system. Addy has retained her spunky outlook on life, even though there are challenges to face and overcome every day. As long as treatments/results continue to stay on course, Addy’s active treatment will end September 8, 2019. She is hoping for her immunity to return to normal within 6 months so her “button” can be removed!! Addy will still continue to travel to St. Louis every 4 weeks. Since we have been blessed with support from family, friends, our community and total strangers, the princess wants to give back. She wants to be able to help other children that are also diagnosed with cancer. Come out to the DuQuoin Fairgrounds on September 21st to show your support by running/or walking her 5K "Princess Prance” course. There will be a Fun Run to follow for the kids!
Runners will be placed in the following age divisions: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Medals will be awarded to the top 2 runners in each age group, as well as the top overall male and female runner. Additionally, medals will be awarded to the overall top 3 Walkers. To go along with the theme, there will be one more award for the “Best Dressed Princess” that participates in the 5k run/walk. Male or female, no discrimination, let’s have some fun with this category!!! Registration will be available online and on race day from 7-7:45 am prior to the race. Online registrants (by the 12th) will be guaranteed a t-shirt in their size. Otherwise, shirts will be available for purchase on a first come first serve basis at the race. Race will start and finish at the "Dome" shelter at 8am and will be followed by a kids' fun run. Enter the fairgrounds through Main Gate to get to race due to another event scheduled that day that will have the north side (hills) locked off.
T-Shirts guaranteed to those who register by September 12.
