NWCASA's 8th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®

We are back in the park! 

Join NWCASA as we host our 8th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®!

Cost: Adults $20, Students $10 (if registering after 9/27/2021 - t-shirts will be first come, first serve on event day)

Join us for playful activism as men adorn 4 inch red stiletto heels and strut for one mile next to the beautiful lakefront to raise awareness in our community and support the millions of women who are subjected to horrific acts of sexual violence every year.

All genders are welcome to walk but heels will only be provided in men’s sizes! Men’s heels are optional but highly encouraged.  

Why men in heels? Men are asked to wear heels to actively confront gender stereotypes and expectations. NWCASA acknowledges that not all women wear heels & that heels are not gender specific. The heels are simply a symbol of gender bias. The hope is in a space of playful openness, meaningful conversations and revelations will occur.

Why do this at all? By walking for 1 mile in heels, men take the “first steps” in acknowledging that they will actively work to deconstruct patriarchy and toxic masculinity. They pledge to actively work to reveal, know, and overcome gender biases. And they will actively work to end men’s role in sexualized violence.
