We have all felt the void of races being cancelled during the current pandemic. One of the biggest losses to our running community was that we could not be with our friends and teammates and run the annual River to River Relay.
Now is your chance to virtually solo run the 80 miles from River to River across beautiful Southern Illinois. Your run (or series of runs) starts anytime that you want after June 1, 2020 at 12:00 am, and you have until June 30, 2020 at 11:59 pm to complete the distance. You will be able to easily log your miles over the course of the month and an interactive map will display your location as you make progress. Only log miles that are on foot where the intent is to go for a run, walk, or hike. Crawling is acceptable even though technically not on foot. No bikes or ellipticals, but treadmills are of course good to go. But what's really the best part of the virtual run? The hills are optional.
This is a run for every type of runner/walker. 2.67 miles per day will get the job done. You can log your miles via a link that will be emailed and texted to you. When you reach the Eastern Terminus, aka finish line, you will be mailed a killer t-shirt and finisher medal and of course bragging rights to the friends that you beat to get there.
No races?….no problem….Hopefully this will provide some motivation to keep us all moving through these difficult times!!!
