Description

We are excited to announce the grand opening of the new Chain of Rocks Bridge Park! On April 14th, 2024, we will celebrate the opening with a five mile family-friendly bike ride that begins at Chouteau Island Trailhead and ends at the grand opening celebration in the beautiful new grounds on the MO side of the Chain of Rocks Bridge. There, you will enjoy a wonderful celebration of the progress that Great Rivers Greenway and its partners are bringing to the region.

Event Date: Sunday, April 14, 2024 (rain date: Sunday, April 28, 2024)

Ride Start Location: Chouteau Island Trailhead (4205 Chain of Rocks Road, Granite City, IL 62040). https://maps.app.goo.gl/fgasamK7iJ8xgzM29

Check-In Time: 12 pm

Ride Start Time: 1 pm

Ride Length: Approximately FIVE miles (to the southern end of North Riverfront Park and back, ending at Chain of Rocks Park for opening celebration by 2pm)

Parking: 

Public parking is located at Chouteau Island Trailhead .

The new Bridge being constructed on I-270 over the Mississippi will almost certainly cause delays. Please give yourself extra time if you plan to cross the Mississippi to get to the Illinois side to get to Chouteau Island Trailhead. 

Bike Parking: Trailnet will staff bike corral parking at Chain of Rocks Park opening celebration from 2-4 pm
