The Blue Buck Moon Twilight 5K, part of the Heartland Endurance Sports Full Moon Series of events, is scheduled for August 1, 2015, at Cicero Community Park. Please check back soon for more details.
The full moon that appears in July is called the Buck Moon. Male deer, which shed their antlers every year, begin to regrow them in July, hence the Native American name for July’s full moon. On July 31, 2015, a second full moon will appear in the month of July. This second full moon in a month is called a blue moon, and is a rare event, as in the expression “once in a blue moon”.
Heartland Endurance Sports would like to celebrate this by bringing you a once in a blue moon 5K race experience. While Heartland Endurance Sports always tried to provide you with a rare, blue-moon-worthy experience at all our races, we have partnered with the Cicero Friends of the Parks to bring you something different with our chip-timed evening run, by arranging to bring you big band music before and after the event, in the form of the Lapel Community Band, a great running course, awesome shirts and medals and an all around family-friendly event! Proceeds from this event benefit the Cicero Friends of the Park, a 501c3 organization based in Cicero, IN.
All preregistered athletes receive an event t-shirt, finisher’s medal and a collectible race bib; be sure to register early for best price!
