Description

Welcome to the Heart of America Mulitisport Merit Badge Clinic, where scouts will learn everything they’ll need to prepare them to earn the Multisport Merit Badge!  

This clinic is a USA Triathlon Sanctioned event. All participants must have a USA Triathlon membership to participate. To get a membership, free of charge, please follow these instructions. BEFORE you complete the clinic registration, you must visit this site: https://member.usatriathlon.org. Once you have your membership number, you'll enter the number during your registration for the clinic. 

Clinic Pre-Requisites:

·         It is recommended that Scouts earn Cycling, Athletics, and/or Personal Fitness Merit Badges prior to registering

·         Review all Multisport Merit Badge requirements at www.scouting.org/merit-badges/multisport/

 

In this 3-hour clinic scouts will learn about all of the key aspects of Multipsort and at the end, all participants will complete a duathlon (run, bike, run).  

 

Run by USAT Level I Coach and USAT Race Director Katy Renner; and USAT Level I Coach, 6-time Ironman World Championship Qualifier and 4-time Ultracycling World Record holder Josh Wolf, scouts will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches in the Midwest. 

 

This Multipsort Clinic will focus on: 

 

- Basic knowledge such as hazards that you might encounter, distances of Triathlon, equipment needs; swim, bike and run safety, etc.  
- How to warm up for each discipline 
- Rules of the road for biking and running 
- Going over training programs and ways to improve at Multisport 
- Learning how to set up transition 
- A race simulation where scouts will complete a duathlon (run, bike, run) with the distances that meet the badge requirements 
- Ways scouts can continue to participate in Multisport 
- Ways you can volunteer at a local race as a group 
- Swim, bike and running form and practice time for each sport

What scouts will need: 

Bike
Helmet 
Bike/Run shoes 
Sunscreen 
Water bottle 
A snack

4b - 1, 2, 3 & 4c - 1, 2, 3 *Swimming activities will not be offered during this clinic.

We will NOT be swimming at this clinic.
