On August 2, 1985, Governor Martha Layne Collins opened the inaugural Bluegrass State Games to encourage physical fitness and amateur competition among Kentuckians.
35 years later, the Bluegrass State Games' mission is still the same...providing our citizens with a source of athletic competition for recreation, health, and well-being.
In that spirit, we are introducing the Bluegrass State Games Torch Run. We would like to see the BGSG community come together (with 6 feet of spacing, of course) to celebrate the 35th anniversary of this great event that has seen so many participants over the years.
Challenge yourself and complete 35 miles (1 for every year the Bluegrass State Games have been in existence) by August 2nd.

With the 2020 Bluegrass State Games cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, your financial gift will make a significant impact towards ensuring that the Games are able to continue serving our community in its athletic pursuits beyond 2020.
The Bluegrass State Games is sensitive to the fact that the coronavirus is having an affect on all of our lives, but if you are in a position to donate,your support is greatly appreciated.
