Trek For ZEC - A Virtual 5K

We are excited to invite you to join us for our 1st Trek for ZEC virtual 5K Race! The proceeds from this event will benefit programs for children, teens, and adults at the Zembrodt Education Center - an extension of The Point Arc. We know participating in a virtual event isn’t the same as taking it all in, in person. We would rather be with all of you on race day to cheer you on! But since 2020 is a little different for us all, we’re rolling with the punches and hope you’ll join us. We’ve created a fun Halloween-themed virtual experience for you that will help encourage you all the way across your finish line. So don't let the virtual event spook you, throw on a comfortable costume and let's haunt the sidewalks with some Halloween spirit!

How it Works

A virtual event allows participants to complete the race on their own. You will run/walk/ride the race distance at your own pace and at a time and location of your choosing. You choose your own starting line, whether it’s a treadmill, a park or your neighborhood street. Once you've completed your race, log back into this website and enter your time. All participants will receive a t-shirt and a swag bag!

Starting Time & Route

You don't have to start at any particular time, but we do encourage our participants to complete their race on Oct. 24th. Participants will be choosing their own route for the virtual event. It would be unsafe for us to provide a route that all could use at any specific time.

Planning Your Race

A 5K is 3.1 miles. Many runners complete a 5K in 30 to 40 minutes. The average walker finishes a 5K in 45 to 60 minutes. Take your time. The beauty of a virtual event is that you can complete the race at your own pace.

T-Shirts & Gift Bags 

T-shirts are included in the cost of registration. You will be able to choose a size when you sign-up. Participants will also receive a gift bag. These items will be available for pick-up at The Point Perk Coffee Shop, one of The Point's social enterprises, located at 43 W. Pike St, Covington, Ky. 41011. Please choose one of the below times to pick-up your items:

• Thursday, Oct. 22nd 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
• Friday, Oct. 23rd 10:00 am -12:00 pm
• Packet pick up will not be available on the day of the race.
   

Inclement Weather:

Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event, with special attention placed on the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds and extreme temperatures. If necessary, participants will be made aware of these conditions and possible dangers on Facebook, Instagram, via public announcements and potentially other means of communication, such as e-mail. We will reschedule the event if necessary.
