Sponsors

Primate Rescue Center

Partial race proceeds and 100% of donations received will benefit the Primate Rescue Center based in Jessamine County.

The Primate Rescue Center is nestled on 30 acres in central Kentucky, with buildings and grounds designed to afford the animals a quiet, sheltered place to spend the rest of their lives. The centerpiece of the sanctuary is a state-of-the-art chimpanzee enclosure—currently home to 8 chimpanzees—that was completed in the summer of 2006 and since updated with climbing structures and other improvements designed for the chimpanzees’ enrichment and comfort. An enclosed tunnel allows the chimps to choose where they want to spend their time and move between the spacious outdoor enclosure and their temperature-controlled sleeping and playroom areas.

In addition, the PRC features 10 custom indoor/outdoor monkey enclosures with heated houses; the nearly 40 primates occupying these enclosures can also choose where they wish to spend their time, and, except in the most inclement weather, most venture outdoors for at least part of the day. Providing a well balanced and nutritious diet for so many apes and monkeys is a monumental task: on an average day, our staff, volunteers, and interns process 300 pounds of fresh vegetables, fruit, lettuce, nuts and grains and prepare the primates’ meals in our industrial kitchen.

Our Mission
The mission of the Primate Rescue Center is to alleviate the suffering of primates wherever it occurs by:

Providing sanctuary or referral to appropriate facilities
Working to end the trade in primates both in the United States and abroad
Educating the public to the plight of primates caught in the breeder/dealer cycle
Assisting researchers and zoo personnel in finding appropriate placement for surplus primates
Encouraging compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and animal welfare statutes

Our Race Presenting Sponsors - Happy Hour Liquor & Bar and 1922 House Vineyards & Winery

Our race has two presenting sponsors who will be providing our bourbon and wine tasting following the race.

Happy Hour Liquor & Bar

The liquor store has been in Nicholasville for over 9 years, as Happy Hour Liquor since 2020.  The bar was added within the last year.  The liquor store specializes in bourbon, especially single barrel bourbons, but has over 600 wines, and a giant beer cooler.  Our motto is what you like to drink is the right drink, and the way you like to drink it, is the right way to drink it.  And we carry the full lineup of 1922 House Vineyards & Winery wines, and has an exclusive wine from 1922 House, a proofed up semi sweet Chambourcin, Bourbon barrel aged via Four Roses OBSK barrel for 5 months.  Our bar is open weeknights and Saturday, has over 350 different bourbons, craft cocktails, and is a full bar.  Outside food is welcome.  It is always happy at Happy Hour Liquor & Bar.

1922 House Vineyards & Winery

Welcome to 1922 House Vineyards & Winery, located in central Kentucky, in the heart of bourbon and horse country, just miles from the first commercial vineyard ever planted in the United States.

Our name and logo come from our home, which was built in 1922 and is located on our twenty-five acre farm alongside our vineyard and winery. All our wines are 100% Kentucky Proud, starting from Kentucky-grown grapes and crafted into the finished product onsite here in Jessamine County. Wherever possible, we work to support other local businesses in sourcing supplies for our bottling, marketing, and other materials to make 1922 House Vineyards & Winery a truly local Kentucky experience.

We offer a wide selection of wines, including our specialty dry reds, for which 1922 House Vineyards & Winery has earned multiple awards from national judges. Whether you prefer your wine smooth and subtle or complex and spicy, we’ve got something we think you’ll like. For bourbon drinkers, we also offer a barrel aged wine that’s our current best-seller. And don’t forget to bring along your sweet-wine friends so they can try our selections on the sugary end of the line. Coming soon we’ll have Sparkling wines as well!
