Unfortunately it looks like the Gorge is scheduled for another couple days of rain from now until Sunday. With the ground already saturated, the trails will likely be a mess (or maybe even underwater in spots), making for a miserable, unsafe, and unsustainable use of them this weekend. So we are following the lead of our friends at Yamacraw 2018 and are unfortunately going to call this one off.
Since Forestry Ridge Road is closed for the season for repairs, we’ll be doing an out-and-back on Whittleton/Sheltowee from the Whittleton campground. It’s easy to make this as short or long as you want, depending on how far you go before turning around. Meet up at the parking lot across from the Whittleton campground entrance. This event is free, open to the public, and accommodating to all paces, including hikers. Either meet at John's Run/Walk Shop to carpool or meet at the trailhead.
