Kenpuppy Derby

Sad News: There will be no Kenpuppy Derby in 2024. 

Due to the seemingly never-ending overcrowding crisis among dogs and puppies, Woodford Humane Society is not able to host the Waddle for the Roses this year. Unlike our other events, the Kenpuppy Derby depends on there being extra space in our kennel - and there simply is none. 

Our Kenpuppy Derby puppies typically arrive at Woodford Humane in mid-March and stay with us through that extra special first Saturday in May, so we can make sure they're healthy and fully vaccinated when the big day arrives.

This year in mid-March, we were so far past capacity that we had to waive dog adoption fees for a week out of desperation. And despite a little temporary relief, our kennel is still sitting at 129% capacity. We kept hoping things would improve in time for us to prep for the Kenpuppy Derby, but that hasn't happened.

Cancelling the Kenpuppy Derby means missing out on $10,000 of crucial funding for the animals in our care. If you can help us make up the difference by Derby Day (Saturday, May 4th), please donate now. 

And don't despair...the Kenpuppy Derby will be back! Hopefully in 2025 we will have more room to house racers and the Waddle for the Roses will return. In the meantime we will leave the 2023 Kenpuppy Derby highlights posted below for you to enjoy.
