The Adventure Race of Acadiana is a city-wide challenge race held in Acadiana that combines challenges that are physical (kayaking, running, rock climbing), mental (puzzle solving, trivia, strategizing), and even silly (singing, dancing, eating contests), which scatters teams of two all over Acadiana.  Fantastic prizes are also awarded to the top fundraising teams, best costume, most creative name, etc.  From the starting line, teams are given a clue leading them to another checkpoint and they must successfully complete challenges—following clues—until they reach the end of the race.  Challenge stops will include either a Roadblock or Detour at each location.  Teams must raise funds to benefit The Refinery Mission organization in order to qualify for the race and the top 50 fundraising teams will compete in an effort to win their share of the $6,000 cash prize!  Both members must cross the finish line to guarantee placement.

The Race will begin and end at Vermilionville in Lafayette. From the starting line, teams are given a clue leading them to another checkpoint (Detour or Roadblock) and they must successfully complete challenges—following clues—until they reach the end of the race at the finish mat. Clues provided in each leg lead the teams to the next destination or direct them to perform a task, either together or by a single member. Racers will run, walk, bike, or take the city bus, based on Clue Directions, to get to each challenge along a route about 15 miles long containing 14-16 challenges. The conclusion of the race involves a check presentation to the winning teams as well as prizes to other top performing teams.

Transportation during race may include: Walking, Running, Biking, Taking City Bus, and/or Riding in a Vehicle

Entry Criteria & Details

• Only teams of 2 can participate in this adventure race.
• Each team will sign-up both participants at registration.
• Teams will create a custom donation page with their team name, picture, tagline and short bio.
• Each team will have a TEAM Fundraiser they will create to raise money towards their team fundraiser goal to gain entry into TOP 50.
• ONLY the TOP 50 fundraising teams will gain entry and compete on Race Day.
• Teams that DON'T qualify in Top 50 will have a chance to compete @ Vermilionville for a mini-challenge to win Cash Prizes.
• Team members must be 17 years of age or older and in good physical health to participate. (If a member is 17 years of age, they must be accompanied by adult 21 or older)
• All participants must sign all waivers of liability in order to participate.

      RACE FEES:

• RACE TEAMS:
  • Each team must raise/pay a Minimum of $250 for Race Entry to be eligible to qualify into Top 50.
• CORPORATE SPONSORED TEAM:
  • The company must donate a Minimum of $500 for Race Entry to be eligible to qualify into Top 50.
  • ONLY 1 corporate team may enter per company/business listed under that company name.
