CDC Recommendations For Races

Dear Runner, We are so excited to have you running/walking in this race. We hope you beat your personal time and maybe even win a medal! Above all, we want you to have a fun, safe and enjoyable run today. In order for us to have a safe race, we need to meet with the standards given to us by the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) recommendations for the prevention of the spread of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and other communicable diseases. CDC’s guidance at:  We will be seeking to physical distance ourselves. We do ask that at the start of the race, and at the end, that you wear a mask as there might be slight crowding. If you elect not to wear a mask because you may be very hot at that time, remember to physical distance yourself as you will probably be breathing harder than normal. If we all physical distance ourselves from each other, we should be just fine. We care about you and desire to keep you safe as best we can.

Snap To A Cure 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

Sunday, October 25, 2020 @ 8:00 AM

North Vermilion High School Stadium
11609 LA Hwy 699
Maurice, LA 70555

Event Details:
The 4th annual Snap to a Cure will be collaboration between Snap Fitness of Maurice and Kalix James Broussard’s family. The event will take place on Sunday October 25, 2020 at North Vermilion High School. A portion of the funds will benefit the Kalix James Broussard Memorial Scholarship Fund. In addition, this year’s Snap to a Cure will team up with Vermillion Catholic High School and Whittington Veterinary Clinic.
On January 27th 2020, Kalix and his two dogs were heading to work at WVC. In a blink of an eye, two vehicles hit head on causing Kalix, his dogs, and the other vehicle’s driver to gain their wings. This tragic event has left an everlasting impact on his family, friends, and community. Kalix was a beloved employee at WVC and a VC Eagle for 4 years graduating in 2019.
Kalix was the Screaming Eagle’s running back from 2016 to 2019. He was known for his toughness as an athlete, but more importantly, as an amazing person. The Snap to a Cure 5k will give the community and Kalix’s family a day of remembrance and celebration of his short life here on Earth.
Food, music, and fun for the kids will be provided for all participants. Not a runner? No problem. Starting at 8, the one mile event will begin. This event can be a warm up for the 5k race, or a simple walk with family and friends to honor Kalix’s life. The mile will be 4 laps around the NVHS track.  Shortly after, the 5K race will begin. The race will begin on the track, go to the streets of Maurice and back on the track for the finish.
