5k starts at 7:00 pm

The Race Benefits: Reed Duhon

Reed was born with congenital nystagmus. Nystagmus refers to a condition of involuntary eye movement. People with this condition will adapt an unusual head/eye position to minimize their blurred vision. In addition to the head/eye turn they may bob their head to find their best point of vision. 

Nystagmus is widely thought to be untreatable. Dr. Hertle is a pediatric ophthalmologist who practices in Akron, Ohio. He performs Eye Recession Surgery. With this procedure, he has had great success with slowing the movement of the eyes leading to improved visual acuity for his patients. This procedure will also address the head turn and head bob. 

This 5K is to raise money to help cover the cost of the procedure and travel expenses necessary for Reed to see Dr. Hertle.
