Description
New year, new logo, and a new hero! This is a VIRTUAL race; run alone, outside or on a treadmill, whatever you like! If running outside, we encourage you to wear something that shows WHY you're running (i.e. #blacklivesmatter.) We are STILL appalled about the current situation and are trying to do our part in this fight! Proceeds from all runner's registration fees will be donated to Black Lives Matter, the Bail Project, and Louisville Community Bail Fund. All registered athletes will receive a custom t-shirt shipped to them! If you can't race (or running just isn't your thing) please feel free to make a donation and/or share this link to all your friends and family!
About Black Lives Matter:
BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.
About the Bail Project:
The Bail Project, Inc. is a non-profit organization designed to combat mass incarceration by disrupting the money bail system ‒ one person at a time. We believe that paying bail for someone in need is an act of resistance against a system that criminalizes race and poverty and an act of solidarity with local communities and movements for decarceration.
About the Louisville Community Bail Fund:
The Louisville Community Bail Fund exists to not only bail out folks, but provide post-release support to get them from jail, fed, and to a situation of safety. LCBF also maintains a focus on preventative measures for those targeted by law enforcement and threatened with incarceration. While we work with national networks, we are also one of the only bail funds that rely entirely on support from individuals in our social justice community.
