Sad But True, Due to Covid-19 Pandemic our race has been Cancelled
Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 Pandemic we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 I-Kan race. We hope to reschedule for 2021 and will announce that date as soon as we are able. Thanks for your support!
Description
The I-KAN is the first of an annual fundraising event in which 80% of any profits will go towards site improvements each year and 20% will be split between camper scholarships and scholarship endowment funds.
THE I-KAN RACE
The 5k I-KAN course will take you over trails,"off-road" paths and through stream beds on the campground side of our property all while completing over a dozen different challenging obstacles. Our goals are for you to have a fun time adventuring in the woods and to begin a funding stream for money that can help solidify the future growth of Manidokan Camp & Retreat Center.
Kids Participate too!!!! Because what camp event wouldn't include kids! Runners age 12 and older can run on the 5K I-KAN course. Runners between ages 5-11 can run the approximately 1 mile long Fun Run course filled with many of their own adventures. Adults can participate in the course, side by side with their young ones. Run as many laps as you can!
WHAT ARE WE DOING WITH THE MONEY?
We are most excited to use site improvement funds towards the development of our Rustic Camping Program. We have taken the first steps in that program already, which include 2019 site visits to learn from other camping programs, purchasing tents and running a 2019 Rustic Program at the Large Pavilion Shelter, Securing funding for a 16 person Hammock Pavilion.
Future funds will go towards the following: Building a second 16 person hammock shelter. Adding cubbies and gear storage to both shelters. Developing a sustainable toilet area. Designing a Rainwater collection system. Implementing solar energy collection for lighting and other electrical needs. Facilitating opportunities to demonstrate teaching and learning around Sustainability, Creation Care, and Climate Justice.
We hope you will join us in coming to participate in the I-KAN race, volunteer to help prepare for race day, and invite others to know both what a great adventure this week be and what a great ministry Manidokan offers to so many people in so many ways!
