Description
You don’t have to go far to find great community, challenging and fun race opportunities! We Run Local is an exciting new 10K three-race series which draws together our local running community with support to the important causes we all care about.
Start this year’s Independence Day celebration with the 40th Annual Arbutus Firecracker 10K commemorating the memory of George & Naamah Kendrick, the original founders. This year, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Blind Industries & Services of Maryland. Make your way through the historic streets of Relay and Arbutus, then enjoy some post-race hot dogs and snow cones. Continue the celebration and catch the local soap box derby, flag raising ceremony, and Fourth of July Parade!
The Food Market 10K, benefiting Howard County General Hospital, is the second race of the series held October 1st. This challenging, but classic course, climbs Route 108 and begins and ends at The Food Market near The Mall in Columbia. Stick around because you won’t want to miss the incredible post-race food and drink curated by Chef Chad Gauss and his culinary team!
The final challenge, the Zaching Against Cancer Running Festival, benefits its namesake Foundation’s fight against Cancer and will be held November 18th starting and finishing at Turf Valley Towne Square. This 10K course takes runners through the beautiful golf course at Turf Valley and ends with a great finish line celebration including a beer garden, bloody marys, oysters, pizza and live music!
Celebrate your completion of the We Run Local series having made great friends and knowing you have supported the local causes we all care about, and don’t forget to pick up your official swag at the final stop!
