Welcome to the registration page for the St. Andrew Apostle School VIRTUAL Spirit 5K & Kids' Fun Run!
This race is a big fundraiser for our school, St. Andrew Apostle School located in Silver Spring, Maryland. The purpose of the Spirit 5K and 1K Fun Run is to raise money in support of St. Andrew Apostle. In addition, each year we will be donating a portion of our proceeds to a charity that supports research and awareness of health issues that impact our students. This year, our donation will be sent to the Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome Association (CVSA). CVS is a rare, migraine-type disorder present in children and adults that have recurrent, prolonged attacks that disrupt the lives of children around the globe. Both SAA and the CVSA are considered non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations.
T-shirts have now been ordered and will be available on a first-register-first-serve basis. Register ASAP to reserve your desired t-shirt size.
The St. Andrew Apostle Spirit 5k and Fun Run is back, but virtually for 2020. The same "rules" apply as the in-person event, except that you can run whenever and wherever you want. Register for the race and run your distances (5k, 1k, or laps) between now & November 8th to support our school and the CVSA. You can even self-report your time at the website afterwards. No awards this year, but lots of fun and fitness are bound to happen.
Q: Do we have to run/walk on November 7th?
A: No you do not! Run any time before (and including) November 7th to upload your time to the race website. If you run after November 7th, your time may not get uploaded to the race website. If you can live with that, we can too!
Q: How do I get my race t-shirt?
A: You will be given the option to pick up your t-shirt at St. Andrew Apostle (for free) or have it shipped to your home address via USPS (for a fee). You can also opt to donate your t-shirt (i.e., not pick it up and not have it shipped) and we will donate the extra t-shirts to a charity. *** PLEASE NOTE that t-shirts have now been ordered and will be available on a first-register-first-serve basis. Register ASAP to reserve your desired t-shirt size.
Q: Will you give out awards to top finishers?
A: Not this year, since we can’t come together and compete simultaneously under identical conditions and course. But please know that we are very proud of you for your performance and support of our school. Well done!
Q: What about race photos?
A: We get it. Pictures or it didn’t happen. We will happily accept photos of you running, walking, wearing your race t-shirt while channel surfing, etc. that we will put on our Facebook page! Please send photos (<500 KB please) to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “2020 Virtual Spirit Run Photos”. And don’t forget to smile, even if you’re wearing a mask!
Q: I heard there is a digital bib - how do I access that?
A. Yes, it's true! The bibs are personalized just for you & ready to download to make your race feel more "official." You should have received an e-mail with a link to your digital bib after you registered for the event. If you can't find that, you can download your bib from your profile as follows:
If you log into RunSignUp, you should be able to access it from your Profile under the Upcoming Events Tab through the View Digital Bib link -- see screenshots below:
You should also be able to access it via the Digital Bib tab on your Registration Management page by logging onto RunSignup, navigating to Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration > Manage Registration. The Digital Bib option can be either located on the top of the page or on the left of the page. See screenshots below for reference.
Q: Do I have to upload my results & how do I do that?
A: Results can be uploaded manually, by visiting the race registration page on RunSignUp and clicking on "Results." The RunSignUp page can be found here. As this event is being conducted "for fun" and results are on the honor system, there is no prize money or age group awards. However, as your mother always said, if you cheat -- you are only cheating yourself.
