Description

 

Take to the beach and take part in the Freedom Flag 5k spirit run and put your patriotism on full display by carrying the American Flag along the  Ogunquit Beach. 

This is a family friendly event.

Each registered participant will be given a 3x5 American Flag. We ask that you wear a Red shirt. You will also be showing your support to a military event that will be taking place at the same time that morning.  Register and join us on March 31, 2018 7AM in Maine for the First Annual Freedom Flag 5k by running, walking, strolling or rucking this unique 5k event.  

PARKING IS AT THE TOWN MUNICIPAL PARKING LOT ACROSS FROM THE NORSEMAN RESORT!!

Roads will NOT be shut down for this event; this is a festive group run, walk,stroll, or  ruck where you provide the American spirit and the energy! This is a community-building fun run, NOT a race. If you want to run your fastest, you are welcome to do so. Headphones are all permitted Strollers, kids in little red wagons but might be very hard to do in beach sand. Note to Parents: you are responsible for keeping your children safe at any road crossings as well as the beach itself. This will be on the beach and there are NO Lifeguards on duty.

Please Read U.S Flag Code: it is against U.S. Flag Code and flag etiquette to wear an American flag as a cape. So please make sure to carry a flag with you, either in your hands or on a pole, but please do not use it as clothing and please make sure it does not touch the ground.

Code of Conduct for All Participants: We ask that All participants follow the Rules conduct. We ask that you please  conduct yourself in a courteous manner, showing respect for all fellow participants, volunteers, Event Staff, and members of the community. Proper race etiquette is required at all times, including being aware of surroundings/announcements and following instructions from event officials. 

Start : Runners, Walkers, Ruckers, we ask that you remain respectfully during pre-race announcements and the singing/ playing of the national anthem.

Headphones: The use of headphones or earbuds is permitted but please make sure to keep them at levels in which you remain aware of your surroundings, including other participant

Urination: In accordance with the city/town ordinances, participants may only urinate in toilet facilities. Public urination in any part of the race venue, course, village is prohibited. 

Participants Courtesy : • Please exercise extreme care when spitting or blowing their noses to avoid soiling nearby participants.

Trash: Series events are conducted in public parks, beaches and streets we ask Participants to please deposit all trash in trash bins.

Safety: If any participant encounters a runner in distress, they should offer assistance and/or report the situation to the nearest event coordinator or volunteer. If possible, they should also call 911 or the local emergency medical number.

Net Proceeds from this event will uphold the mission of Stride and Ride Foundation of Honoring Fallen Heroes while giving back to Military and First Responder Charities who provide support to active duty military, veterans, wounded veterans, first responders and their families.
