Celebrate the 214th birthday of Portland, Maine's No. 1 bard, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, with a virtual 2.5K run, walk or swim anywhere in the world. On Valentine's Day, Sunday, February 14, 2021, at the start time of your choosing, run, walk or swim 2.5K anywhere in the world with your valentine, your family, your friends, your canine Henry Wadsworth Longfellow lookalike, or all by yourself in support of Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine. Print out your customized Longfellow Frostbite bib. Upload your virtual result (or simply acknowledge you've completed your event) and photos to our Run Signup page* (choose from the run, walk or swim Result sets) and be eligible for one of our many prizes: New Running Shoes from Fleet Feet Maine Running Company to a male and a female chosen at random from reported finishers; Most Distant 2.5K (distance anywhere in the world from Portland, Maine); Most Creative 2.5K; Longfellow Valentines Award; My First Race Award (participants under 10); Longfellow Canine Look-Alike Award; Victorian Winter Running Attire Award (a vintage clothing favorite); plus special certificates for completing two or more events (for example, 2.5K Run & 2.5K Swim), and raffles for extra giveaway prizes. (Photo challenge: highlight a distinctive local feature—Eiffel Tower, Mount Fuji, Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, a Joshua tree in the Mojave Desert, Portland Head Light, the Longfellow Monument in Longfellow Square, for example.)
