Thomas Daley passed away in a tragic farm accident in 2011 at the age of 23. We have been missing him greatly for over a decade now! Thomas could always be seen with a smile on his face and an outstretched hand ready to help. He was passionate about farming, music, faith, and FOOD! Not only was he a hard worker and a talented pianist, but he was a friend to all. It was easy to be around Tom; he just made life better. After his passing, the family created an agricultural scholarship in his honor. Thanks to the support of our amazing friends, family and community, the $5,000 scholarship has been funded in perpetuity and continues to be granted to a new student in Lapeer County each year.
In 2019, the Daley family created the Thomas Daley Memorial Fund. The goal of this fund is to raise money for a different nonprofit charity each year whose mission most aligns with Tom's passions and altruistic character. The Thomas Daley Memorial Fund is proud to have chosen the 42 Strong Foundation in Oxford as the recipient of our 2022 grant.
Join us at the Daley Acres farm on Saturday, July 9th, as we walk or run to raise money for an exceptional nonprofit foundation that was created out of the truly horrific event that took place at Oxford High School. Four students tragically lost their lives that day, including 16 year-old Tate Myre. Tate was a standout student athlete with a lifetime ahead of him. He was known for his passion to mentor younger kids, primarily through sport. The Myre family is dedicated to keeping Tate's legacy of leadership alive through the 42 Strong Foundation. The foundation's focus on mentoring will continue the legacy of athleticism, community spirit, excellence, and leadership that Tate Myre displayed during his life.
We ask that you please join us to celebrate the lives of two amazing young men who were tragically taken from their loved ones too soon. The 5k race will take place at the Daley family farm, a place that Thomas loved more than anything. As someone who was passionate about helping others (he was an avid blood donor) and served as a role model to so many others, we know Tom would be proud to raise money for the 42 Strong Foundation in memory of Tate.
The kids 1 mile race will take place at 3:30pm. The 5k run/walk will begin at 4:00pm. Awards will be presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place runners in each age group and gender. Hors d’oeuvres, a delicious catered buffet dinner by Wood Chips, and drinks and live entertainment will follow. Enjoy a wide selection of refreshing beer and wine served by Lola's Perfect Pour and dance the night away to the amazing music of our opening band Untamed Beauty (the recipient of our 2021 Thomas Daley Memorial Fund Grant) followed by the Serious Jack band. We hope to see you there for an unforgettable evening!
