About Sprout Love:

The Sprout Love Financial Assistance Fund is part of the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor's aim to alleviate the financial strain experienced by those impacted by cancer. Founded in memory of Maureen McCurren, who bravely battled breast cancer, Sprout Love offers assistance for basic living expenses to families undergoing cancer treatment. Established in 2018, the program provides support for necessities such as rent, utilities, groceries, car payments, auto insurance, childcare, and more, aiming to prevent significant financial hardship. Through the Sprout Love initiative, inspired by Maureen's resilience and the compassionate community at the Cancer Support Community, we endeavor to honor her legacy by extending vital assistance to those facing the financial challenges of cancer treatment.

The Duke Cancer Institute found that :
- 42% of participants reported a significant or catastrophic financial burden due to their cancer.
- 68% cut back on leisure activities
- 46% reduced spending on food and clothing
- 46% used savings to defray out-of-pocket expenses
- To save money, 20% took less than the prescribed amount of medication, 19% partially filled prescriptions, and 24% avoided filling prescriptions altogether.

Thanks to donors, the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor’s Sprout Love Assistance Fund has granted over $460,000 to over 180 families impacted by cancer.

Funding Provided:
• $230,550 FOR RENT & MORTGAGE
• $81,500 FOR CAR & INSURANCE
