COVID-19 Information - Updated July 24, 2020 - Read Below for more info
The Kensington Marathon is on - We will see you Sunday!
As of June 8 we have received permission to hold the race and the race is on. We are working to ensure that the race is safe (for runners, supporters, race staff & volunteers, and other park users) following guidelines and recommendations from The Governor (and Governments), Health Organizations, The Huron Clinton Metropolitan Authority, and the Running Community.
New for 2020 is a 10k option - in addition to the 50k and 5k
Run in one of the most beautiful parks in the United States. Kensington Metropark is home to an 8.5 mile continuous run/walk/bike trail that circles Kent Lake. Come see why so many area runners train regularly here. The park also features a small farm, equestrian area, nature center, boat rental, 18 hole golf course, water park, disc golf course, and more.

We are working to ensure that the race is safe (for runners, supporters, race staff & volunteers, and other park users) following guidelines and recommendations from The Governor (and Governments), Health Organizations, The Huron Clinton Metropolitan Authority, and the Running Community. There will be NO Race Day Registration. All Registration will be paperless and online.
We are NOT requiring all participants & spectators to wear a mask.
Please be respectful of other people's personal space and allow adequate social distancing.
Before and after the race please respect the space and health of others and maintain 6' of social distancing.
Please resist hand to hand or personal contact - no high fives - no hand shakes - no hugs We know it's hard to resist congratulating someone after their first marathon or running a great race but please help us follow the rules and resist personal contact. As the race director I love to congratulate accomplishment and thank folks for running our race with a hello and a handshake but this year it's going to be a safe socially distanced hello with our conversation. Yes you will see me out on the bike on the course encouraging you to the finish line and I'll encourage you from a safe distance away!
We are encouraging as many runners as possible to pick up their race packet prior to race day. This will minimize congestion and contact on race morning prior to the start of the race. We are currently working with the park to finalize packet pick-up times and location. Please maintain 6' social distancing at packet pick-up.
Please do not go near packet pick-up or get in line before your scheduled time slot. There will be plenty of time and our system is very efficient for packet pick-up. Please maintain 6' social distancing at packet pick-up. (5:15am - Marathon & 50k) (7:00am - Half-Marathon) (7:30am - 10k & 5k)
5:00 am: Early Start- Marathon & 50k
6:00 am: Start - Marathon & 50k
8:00 am: Start - Half-Marathon
8:30 am: Start - 10k & 5k
We will Start in waves of 20 runners each starting at ONE minute intervals.
This to help thin out the stream of runners on the path and make it easier to pass in both directions
Click Here for more Start Line Zone Details.
Volunteers will be placing cups of water on tables at the aid stations - there will not be any HAND to HAND contact.
The cups will be spaced apart so that each runner can take a cup without touching another cup.
Please do not run more than 2 across. Please be courteous of runners, walkers, & cyclists going in both directions. The path is open to others on race day. It is a big park and this is never an issue. Pay attention to the parking lot entrance crossings - The cars have the right of way.
We ask that you Stay to the Right & Pass on the Left.
The finish line will also be non-contact. Your medal and any other swag will be placed on a table for you to pick up and take
We will NOT be doing age group awards this year (it encourages people to congregate & wait around in clusters). In place of age group awards everyone will be getting something in addition to their finisher's medal. We will also NOT be posting printed results (this also encouraging congregating). Results will be uploaded the race website. We love talking to folks and hanging out at the finish line but we have to follow the rules and minimize contact between people as much as possible. Thanks for your understanding.
