KCAN Super Hero 5K Run/Walk

About This Event:
Grab your sidekick and super hero cape and get ready for the 6th annual Super Hero 5K Run/Walk which supports (KCAN) Kalamazoo Child Abuse and Neglect Council. KCAN works together with the community to prevent child abuse and neglect in Kalamazoo County. All ages are welcome to this family-friendly event. This is a professionally timed event. Paid online registrants for the 1K will receive a medal, t-shirts will be available at a cost. All 5K registrants will receive a t-shirt, Mac Sport's timing bib and a goodie bag. Games, snacks, mascots and photo opportunities galore. 

All proceeds will support KCAN's programs, including Kids are Special, which is a sexual abuse prevention program for elementary-aged children, and mandated reporter training which is an education program to teach professionals who work with children how to identify and report abuse and neglect, and more.

Registration Fees Sept. 15th to Sept. 26, 2019 (11:59 pm)

• Ages 4-10: $15.00 
• Ages 11+: $30.00
• 1K Fun Run - FREE (t-shirt costs $10.00)

All runners registered by September 17, 2019 (11:59 pm) will be guaranteed a race t-shirt.

Race Day Fees:

• Ages 4-10 yrs: $15.00 
• Ages 11+: $35.00
• 1K Fun Run - FREE

Race t-shirts may be purchased the day of the race.

Event Schedule:

• Registration Check-In and Late Registration - 8:00 am 
• 1K Kids Fun Run - 9:00 am 
• Super Hero 5K - 9:30 am

Age Categories:
10 -13, 14 -17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50 and over

Awards and Prizes:
Medals will be awarded to first place male and female winners in each age bracket. Prizes for Best Costume and Most Creative Costume.

T- Shirts:
**T-shirts and sizes are only guaranteed for participants registering before September 17, 2019.** After September 17, 2019, t-shirts may be purchased on race day, sizes as available.  

Timing and Scoring:
Mac's Sports Timing will conduct timing and scoring. Visit www.macssportstiming.com for results immediately after the event.

Packet Pick-Up:
Friday, September 27, 2019 from 4:15 pm to 6:00 pm @ Grain Elevator at Celery Flats, 7335 Garden Lane, Portage, MI 49002.

Photography:
This is a public event and attendance indicates consent to be photographed. Images may appear in KCAN's print and electronic communications. Anyone wishing to not appear in such photographs may request a bracelet at the registration table upon check-in.

A Note About Gender:
We invite you to register in the gender category with which you identify or you can opt out altogether. Gender information is used only so that we may offer age- and gender-graded results. Participants who do not want to share their gender identity are able to choose the ‘non-binary/prefer not to answer’ option on the registration form. Participants who choose that option will be ranked in the overall race results but will not be included in the age- and gender-graded results.
