Description
Organized by Move-it Fitness ll, LLC
Challenge yourself throughout the year to WALK, RUN OR CYCLE your way to fitness
Run the Mitt is a great way to stay motivated, especially through the winter months.
Michigan has a unique and very recognizable state shape! How fun would it be to walk, run or cycle the MITTen? Now you can... Virtually!!
Fun Fact, residents of this great lakes state often point to a location on their hand that corresponds to where they are from! Feel free to do this with your location as you move through the VIRTUAL CHALLENGE!
VIRTUAL CHALLENGE means as you accumulate and record miles you get closer to reaching the distance goal challenge! Along the way you will move through 4-13 cities or virtual checkpoints to chart your progress.

WHAT ARE TEAMS?
You can split up the mileage with teams of 2 or 3. The first registrant registers and creates the team, selects their add-ons and pays. Additional team members start the registration process, join the team of their choice, select their own add-ons and pay. Each member registers, pays and logs their own miles toward the team goal.
TEAMS
The first registrant will select teams and create their team which can be password protected. Then, their teammates will register for the team and purchase their own selected add-ons. Team members will get their own set of swag items. Items will be mailed to each team member if that option was selected and paid for during registration. Alternatively, items can be picked up locally at a Hanson’s Running Shop. Each teammate will log their miles individually, but will all count towards their team goal.
FAQS
WHEN DOES IT START / WHEN DOES IT FINISH?
- Starts January 1, 2024…. if you have miles before registration, they can be counted from January 1, 2024 until your registration date.
- Ends December 26, 2024 (or when you finish your miles)
DO I HAVE TO DO ALL MY MILES AT ONCE?
No, this is a multiple day/month challenge to help motivate you to stay moving!
DO I HAVE TO RUN?
No, you can walk, run or cycle. Treadmill or stationary bike miles are accepted. Daily steps CANNOT be counted as miles.
WHAT COUNTS and DOESN’T COUNT FOR MILES?
Counts:
Run, Walk, Cycle— Road, Trail, Treadmill, Stationary Bike or Snowshoe
Doesn’t Count:
Stair Steppers, Elliptical, Cross Country Skiing, Daily Steps
WHY DOES CYCLING COUNT?
We feel that cycling should be included because sometimes motivating ourselves to move can be a challenge and we want to free you from obstacles. Maybe you have an injury and have to rehab by cycling, or a bad knee that no longer wants to run or walk but still want to participate with your friends or family in the challenge. We want to be inclusive in this challenge, not exclusive.
HOW / WHEN DO I SUBMIT MY RESULTS?
You can enter your miles as many times as you want. Daily, Weekly, Monthly.
Your registration confirmation email will have instructions on how to log your miles
WHEN WILL I GET MY STUFF?
You will get your virtual packet that contains water bottle, medal, checkpoint stickers and any add-ons you have purchased. If you purchased shipping, all items will be mailed to your house in one packet when available. Packets will begin shipping out February 1, 2024. Please allow 2-4 weeks for shipping.
If you opt to participate in a local packet pick-up at Hanson’s Running Shop or purchase and pick-up at local event.
WHY AM I GETTING ALL ITEMS IN THE FIRST SHIPMENT? WHAT IF I DON’T COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE?
You will get all your items in one shipment or pick-up. Besides being more cost efficient with one mailing we feel that this is your challenge. You signed up for this challenge to help stay motivated to put in miles either on foot or cycling so that you could improve your fitness. We are doing our part, you need to do your part with logging the necessary miles.
WHAT IF I REGISTER IN JANUARY BUT DECIDE I WANT TO PURCHASE A HAT OR SHIRT LATER IN THE CHALLENGE?
If you decide that you want to purchase a virtual challenge add-on item after you have registered you simply go back into your RunSignUp account and add the item. Keep in mind that only a finite quantity of items will be available though and when they are sold out, it may not be possible to get more.
WHAT IF I REGISTER IN JULY?
If you register after January you will get your virtual challenge packet and any purchased add-ons within 2-4 weeks. You can start logging mile as soon as you register and any miles done before you register will count going back to January 1, 2024.
