The 17th Annual Tim Heinsz Memorial 5K & 10K Run/Walk, 9th Annual Jim Devine Dog Walk, & 3rd Annual Bob Bailey Bike Ride honors three of Mizzou Law’s most beloved deans. Tim Heinsz served as Dean of Mizzou Law and was an avid runner. Jim Devine served as Associate Dean and was a noted dog lover. Bob Bailey is an Assistance Dean Emeritus and a cycling enthusiast. All monies raised benefit the Timothy J. Heinsz Scholarship Fund.
Event Details:
Location: The in-person race will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Twin Lakes Recreation Area, 2500 Chapel Hill Rd., Columbia, MO, 65201. If you are participating virtually instead, you can participate from home and submit your results online between April 10 to 17, 2021. The event will be held rain or shine.
Packet Pickup: Specific times for packet pickup are 45 minutes prior to each event at Twin Lakes Pavilion.
- 7:45AM – 10K
- 9:15AM – 5K
- 10:15AM – Bike Ride
- 10:30AM – Kids Fun Run
- 10:45AM – Dog Walk
Race Day Registration: Online registration closes at 11:59pm on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. But you can still register the morning of the race! Volunteers will be stationed at the race location to sign up any late registrants. We will accept cash (please bring exact change), checks (made out to “University of Missouri School of Law Foundation” with “TH5K” in the memo line), or debit/credit card. Prices will be the same as they are marked online.
Entertainment: The pond at Twin Lakes is stocked with fish by the Missouri Department of Conservation and is available for fishing. If you have a fishing license, feel free to bring your fishing equipment to the event! Check back soon for more details regarding entertainment on race day.

Please note: race-day registration ends 30 minutes before each respective event. See above for updated packet pickup times. Packet pickup will still begin 45 minutes before each event.

Tim Heinsz Memorial Competitive 5K/10K Run: This registration includes a timing chip, and your race time will be posted online. Registration includes an event t-shirt.

Tim Heinsz Memorial "Just for Fun!" 5K/10K Run/Walk: If you’re interested in participating in the race/walk without the added pressure of having your race time posted online, this is the option for you! This registration option will be listed in the results, with a symbolic time of 2004, in honor of Tim Heinsz. Participants of this division are not eligible for awards. Registration includes an event t-shirt.

Bob Bailey 15K Bike Ride: Enjoy this non-competitive 15K bike ride around Columbia's beautiful Twin Lakes Park. Registration includes an event t-shirt.

Jim Devine Dog Walk: Enjoy a leisurely one-mile stroll with your furry friend. Don’t have a furry friend of your own? Not to worry. Walkers without dogs are welcome to join the fun, too. Each registration includes an event t-shirt.

Kids Fun Run: Kids of all ages are invited to join in on the fun in their own short “race.” Each registration includes one kid-sized t-shirt.

Virtual 5K/10K/Bike Ride: If you are not able come to race day, please join us virtually for our second remote 5K/10K/Bike Ride. You can register using this form and share your experience with other participants. You can also share your results on social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) by using the hashtag #VirtualTH5K and by tagging our social media pages:

This event will follow CDC guidelines in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as City of Columbia, Boone County, and University of Missouri rules and regulations. For a complete list of the guidelines, please review the following webpages:

These guidelines may be updated, as the city/county/University/CDC release new details on protocol for COVID-safe events. Please check back on this page before attending the race.
Columbia Parks & Recreation also requires attendees to participate in a health screening prior to arrival at the event. Upon arriving at the event, you will be asked to answer whether you are currently experiencing, or have experienced within the last 24 hours, any illness, especially any symptoms that are present among COVID-19 infections, as well as asking if you have recently had contact with a known COVID-19 case. If you fail this screening, either based on symptoms or previous exposure, you will be asked to leave the event immediately.
