Description
The first annual Salsa 5K Run/Walk will be held on Sunday, May 31st. This event will benefit the players within Summit Soccer Club, along with the i-ROK Foundation (both not-for-profit/501(c)(3))
The i-ROK Foundation was formed by youth soccer player, Kori Quinn to bring awareness to Ewing's Sarcoma, to save lives, empower people, to find cures, and to help people and organizations in a variety of ways as they battle cancer. Kori was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma (a rare bone cancer) at the age of 13 and passed away at 18 1/2 years old. Please read more about Kori and her foundation at www.i-rokfoundation.org/.
Summit Soccer Club was formed over 20 years ago to develop the complete player through Skill, Discipline, Experience, Teamwork, Character and Community. For more information on coaches and teams check out www.summitsoccerclub.org.
Race participants are encouraged to wear festive attire and join us for a summer morning of fun as we run/walk through downtown Lee’s Summit. The 5k will start at 8:00 am and have a kids run immediately following (approx. 9:00 am). As a participant of the Salsa 5K Run, you will receive chip timing, a race shirt, and a finisher’s medal. Please join us for a great opportunity to support our youth athletes and those at the i-ROK Foundation.
