Description
Giving back to St. Jude because kids are diagnosed every day and they deserve to live!
This will be our 6th annual 5K in memory of Lylah Grey McGaughy, our brave cancer warrior. Lylah was a patient at St.Jude for 17 months. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma 2 months before her 3rd birthday. She underwent chemo, 2 major surgeries, radiation, more chemo, she had to learn to walk again, she had to take injections after each chemo treatment, more x-rays, CT’s and MRI’s than I can count. She did it all like a little princess warrior. She had some bad days, some very very bad days but when she felt good she was always smiling and always complimenting people. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Lylah gained her angel wings on September 15, 2015 just 3 months after her 4th birthday. Lylah’s family NEVER received a bill. They we’re given a place to live, a card for food, all of Lylah’s prescriptions and they never had to pay a dime. Just think of how many families go through the same thing. Can you imagine the financial burden that would put on a family. St. Jude takes care of everything so you can concentrate on the most important thing there...your child! We are doing this race to give back to St.Jude so they can continue doing what they do. If you’d like to see more about Lylah, search for her group on Facebook “Lylah Grey’s Ray of Hope”
We are offering a live race as well as is a virtual race. You can use map my walk or Strava to record your distance and time. Virtual and Spirit runners will receive a shirt and/or a medal but will not be included in the ranking. Memory runners will be included in the ranking but must submit time between September 3rd and September 17th by 8am.
Note: the age groups are not broken down by gender. Each live race participant will receive a finishers medal and a shirt.
