Charitable Giving:
All proceeds from the race will support our Benevolent Fund. Bozeman Firefighters Local 613 is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the Benevolent Fund is how we direct our charitable giving as an organization. This fund is relatively new, but here are some of the ways we use it to help people:
Helping the Community:
As firefighters, we often see people on a bad day….the day of their accident, fire or medical emergency. It’s our job to quickly stabilize the incident at hand. However, the financial impacts of these emergencies often affect families weeks, months, or even years later. Our benevolent fund allows us to make small but important financial gifts to the citizens we serve in their time of need. Something that will help them after the scene is clear and the emergency is over. Our gift made a difference to a mother of two young children who had just been in a car accident and didn’t know if she could afford to replace her damaged car seats. Our gift made a difference to the couple that lost their home and belongings in a fire and needed to buy basic necessities while they got back on their feet. We can never erase the loss that these people have experienced. However, letting them know we care and helping them address their most immediate needs goes a long way to making someone’s bad day a little better.
Taking Care of our Own:
Firefighters are not immune to hardship and loss in their personal lives. The benevolent fund is a way we provide help and support for our own. Whether it’s a member of the Bozeman Fire Department, other first responders in the Gallatin Valley, or responders across the state and nation, we actively support emergency service workers experiencing a time of need as a result of a medical hardship, fire loss or accident.
It is our hope that with your continued support and donations, we can continue to make a positive impact in people's lives!!
