Tour de Elvis 5K
Course
It's a very fast course. Less than a 1/2 mile is uphill. The rest is downhill and flat.
Watch your footing when you run by the baseball field as the roots from the pear trees
have numerous bumps on the Greenway.
Start time at 7:00 pm. Race starts in front of the Original Vac & Dash location at 231 W. Main Street. It is around the corner from the Current Vac & Dash. The finish will be on the Roger Snyder Greenway across from Market Station on West Main Street.
Race is limited to 100 participants, we have about 70 in the race right now. There is plenty of room to socially distance at the start. At the finish, we will hand the 4th - 15th place finishers their medals as they cross the finish line. The Vac & Dash Timing Team is manually timing the race. Top three will have their awards at the award table.

Looking forward to Saturdays ride. Packet Pickup will begin at 6:30 am at Vac & Dash. Mike our bike guy will be on hand in case you need your bike tweaked or adjusted before the ride.

The ride will start at Courthouse Square at the corner of Main and Second Street in Albemarle. It's two blocks from Vac & Dash.
Note that for the 45 and 65 mile riders, you will take a beautiful ride to the top of Morrow Mountain. Due to COVID-19, we will not have an aid station at the top of Morrow Mountain this year.
The rest rooms may or may not be open at the mountain top.
However, we will have an aid station at Moonset General Store at the corner of Valley Drive and Morrow Mountain Rd. They have a portojohn that you can use. You will pass their aid station twice.

Runners will enjoy an evening run through the streets of historic and beautiful Albemarle. We have moved the start of the 5K to Albemarle Music Store on Main Street. We will finish on the greenway next to Albemarle Tire Store across from Market Station. The Course will be mostly flat and downhill.
The race is limited to 100 participants, with no race day registration. Pre-Registration ends on September 7th at midnight.
Packet Pickup will be Wednesday and Thursday from 10-5:30 at Vac & Dash 154 S. First Street in Albemarle, NC. Friday from 10:00 am to 6:45 pm at Vac & Dash.
Medals and awards to the top to top 15 men and women finishers.
Overall Male and Female get a framed Tour de Elvis Gold Painted Framed Album and a Custom Tour de Elvis Tambourine. 2nd and 3rd Female Earn a Custome Tour de Elvis Tambourine. 4th to 15th place runners earn a medal.
All race proceeds going to the Roger F. Snyder Greenway Fund. All runners will receive a tee shirt and other goodies!!
Routes to choose from 25, 45 & 65-mile bike routes. The 45 and 65 mile routes will include cycling to the top of a very scenic Morrow Mountain. Details to follow. The ride is limited to 100 participants.
Under social distancing guidelines, we will stagger the start times for the Cycle Tour. 65 mile riders will start at 7:45 am, 45 mile riders will start at 8:00 am and the 25 mile riders will start at 8:15 am.
Non-traditional cyclists to include unicycles, tricycles, roller blades, etc, are welcome, however you must provide your own support crew. If you have any questions, contact lkiser@albemarlenc.gov.
See Stanly County on a summer Saturday morning with a hundred of your closest friends!! With three distance options there’s a route for serious riders as well as those who have to shake the dust off the bike before getting on. All routes are ride-at-your-own-pace, and will explore the backroads and small towns that make Stanly County a great place to live, work, and visit. Rest stops will be set up every 15 to 20 miles, and SAG support will be provided along the route. For safety, all riders must wear an ANSI approved helmet, and are to obey all traffic laws and rules of the road. The check-in tent will open at 7 am, and all riders will depart from Courthouse Square, 102 N. Second St in Albemarle at 8:00 am. All riders will also receive a tee shirt as well as other goodies!!.
Saturday morning packet pickup for cyclists will begin Saturday morning - Vac & Dash 154 S. First St. 6:30 am to 7:45 am. The start of the ride is at Courthouse Square ( 102 N. Second St, Albemarle, NC) on the corner of Main & Second St. Mike, our bike specialist, will be at the store at 6:30 am, in case you would need his services.
