Runway 5K

This flat and fast course offers runners and walkers a unique opportunity to run on one of the countries' busiest airport runways. In its 14th year, the CLT Runway 5K will take place for the first time completely on the runway and taxiways. Participants will see planes queuing up, taking off and landing. It is an experience that the whole family will enjoy! You must register as a runner to participate. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult. The race will be limited to 1500 participants. Register now, this event will sell out.

NOTE:  MASKS MUST BE WORN ON THE BUSES TO AND FROM THE RACE. 

This is the second year proceeds will help fund an Airport Opportunity Scholarship with Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) created to promote careers in aviation, as well as economic opportunities in Charlotte. The Airport scholarship will benefit students who are graduates of high schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School (CMS) district and are Title 1 eligible. Each recipient will attend CPCC’s Summer Bridge academic enrichment program and enroll in a two-year, career-focused degree program specific to the Aviation Department

Participants 12 and under can register for just $15. The price is reflected at checkout.

Children under 2 (stroller category) are free.

THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY REGISTRATIONS. NO EXCEPTIONS. 

WE DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS, TRANSFERS, OR EXCHANGES.  We ask that you respect this for security purposes. This is an event that takes place on a secure portion of CLT's airfield. 

BAG POLICY - Runners are not permitted to bring bags into the event.  Diaper bags will be allowed but, will be subject to search. Thank you for your understanding and compliance.
