What:

This is a virtual half marathon - 13.1 miles - to be run all at once or over the course of the week. You can divide the miles up however you choose, and they can be completed anywhere - on a trail, track, treadmill, or wherever you prefer! If you love to run, more miles are encouraged! But all should complete at least 13.1 miles. All proceeds will go towards funding Duke Doctorate of Physical Therapy alumni on a trip to support Play for Hope. When:

Where:

Anywhere! The beauty of a virtual run is that miles can be completed anywhere. Runners in the Durham, NC area are encouraged to meet on Sunday, February 15 at 10 AM at Duke University's East Campus Loop to start off the week together.

Who:

Anyone! All ages and fitness levels are welcome to participate.

Why:

All proceeds from this event will go towards supporting Play for Hope, as well as Duke Doctorate of Physical Therapy alumni who will be traveling to Rwanda in May 2015 to work with this organization. Play for Hope is a non-governmental organization in Rwanda who is dedicated to enriching the lives of vulnerable children through sports, vocational training, and discipleship. The organization currently has 12 training centers for soccer and basketball, as well as one soccer academy. The Duke alumni traveling to Rwanda will be able to applying their knowledge of orthopedic based skills and sports injury management to help these young athletes and educate the coaches on management of injuries.
