World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated each year on 3/21 to signify the third copy of the 21st chromosome present in individuals with Down Syndrome. Events will take place AROUND THE WORLD to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome and the vital role they play in our lives and communities. Join us for the Lots of Socks campaign! On the day of the Dash, we invite you to wear brightly colored socks, long socks, printed socks, 1 sock… even 3 socks for 3 chromosomes. The choice is yours, but we ask you to join us wearing something which people will ask you about so that you can tell them all about World Down Syndrome Day. Find more information at https://worlddownsyndromeday.org/lots-of-socks.
The Down Syndrome Network of Greater Greensboro is committed to enriching the lives of individuals with Down syndrome by connecting with new families, providing social and educational opportunities for our members, and promoting awareness and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome in our community. Our website is www.dsngg.org. The money raised specifically at the Dash will fund the DSNGG’s new “Dash for Your Dreams” Scholarship, which will provide local teen to adult applicants with Down syndrome monetary support to help reach their dreams of attending post-secondary school or obtaining the skills necessary to procure and maintain meaningful employment.
