Nik's Run for Addiction Awareness is a 5k Run/Walk to raise awareness of our not only our country’s epidemic, our country's Opioid Epidemic, which ultimately affects our community as a whole. Addiction is a NOT a moral issue, nor is it prejudice. Addiction is a chronic, relapsing brain disease, as quoted by the NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse).
Nik's life and all the lives lost to addiction, will be remembered and celebratedat at this event. passion for running will be celebrated as well as raising Addiction Awareness. Addiction is not a moral issue, nor is it prejudice. Addiction is a chronic, relapsing brain disease as quoted by the NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse).
The 5k course travels along the beautiful Oklawaha Greenway beginning and ending at Patton Park's small pavilion, in Hendersonville, NC. This is a relatively flat, fast, out and back course.
All proceeds will benefit HopeRx*.
*Hope Rx is a community-based drug abuse initiative centered on education, prevention and treatment. HopeRx has been developed by Henderson County Partnership for Health as a community collaborative to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse in Henderson County and help identify effective environmental strategies for prevention as well as treatment options. HopeRx is based on a public health model with the premise that drug overdose deaths are preventable and that all communities are ultimately responsible for their own health.
