Description
Join us for the 10th Annual No Excuse for Abuse (Virtual) Race, a 5k (3.1 mile) run/walk put on by New HOPE of McDowell to raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault and raise funds to support survivors.
Due to COVID-19 and all of the uncertainty of gatherings, we have decided to make this event virtual. While we will miss seeing you all in person doing this event as a large group and that awesome show of solidarity towards survivors, you can still take a stand against domestic abuse and sexual assault and complete the 5k on your own or with your team remotely any time during the week of October 18th-25th. This means you can go to fun places like the local greenway or your neighborhood to complete the 5k! If you want to, you can take a picture or make a video about why this is important to you and share it on social media- however you want to do it to show that you support survivors. Use the hashtag #noexcuseforabuse5k so you can be featured on our social media page!
Pre-register before October 2nd at a discounted rate to guarantee you get your t-shirt before the week of the race! Local pick up date will be announced at a later date on our Facebook page, so stay tuned! Register after that to have your t-shirt sent to your listed address no later than 30 days post run date.
If you are interested in taking part in the 5k, but are kept back due to finances, please contact Kiersten at kiersten.newhope@gmail.com or call at 828-652-8538.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. By participating in this event, you will be part of the solution to end domestic violence and sexual assault. You will be showing survivors that their community cares and supports them.
