Description
Join us on March 16th for our third annual LEPRECHAUN DASH - YMCA 5K / 10K RUN FOR CHATHAM KIDS.
Come celebrate St. Patrick's Day and raise money for Chatham Kids to attend camps and after school. Prizes for age groups as well as the best Leprechaun attire. No matter what, don't forget to wear green.
Starting at the Chatham YMCA, you'll race through Pittsboro and Chatham Park. From the race finish, you can easily walk to many downtown Pittsboro restaurants or breweries for lunch or brunch. NEW IN 2024, we have enhanced courses for both the 5K and 10K that take advantage of newly added greenways.
THE CAUSE
All funds raised for the race go to support Chatham Kids through YMCA after-school and camp scholarships. Annually, the Chatham YMCA seeks to provide $60K worth of scholarships for local childcare and youth-oriented programs where they build people through outdoor activities, sports, and leadership development.
THE FEES & REGISTRATION
Race fees include your Hipster Leprechaun T-Shirt and support for a great cause. Register on RunSignUp. Group discounts available (contact the race director).
Before March 1: $45 for all races
March 1 through March 16: $50 for all races
THE TSHIRT
Every participant registering before March 1st will be guaranteed to receive a Hipster Leprechaun t-shirt.
THE COURSE
Runners will start at the Chatham YMCA. The start will proceed down Thompson St. At Fire Tower Rd. runners will follow greenways, sidewalks, and shoulders. The 5K and 10K will share the course with 5K runners turning around a bit sooner.
WALKERS
Want to walk either course? You're welcome to. We plan to keep our timing set up until at least 11 am. We just ask that you follow sidewalks and cross walks. We can not guarantee police presence past 10:30 am.
STROLLER AND PET POLICY
Baby strollers/joggers are permitted, but for the safety of all participants please start at the back behind the runners and walkers.
Pets are not allowed on the race course.
PARKING AND PACKET PICKUP
Parking:
Race day parking will be available at the Chatham YMCA (287 East St #412, Pittsboro, NC 27312). Please do your best to carpool where that’s an option. Overflow parking will be available in public parking lots in Pittsboro. Please don’t park in shopping center lots.
Packet Pickup:
You can pick up your bibs and t-shirts on either Friday night or Saturday morning. Friday pickup will run from 4:30 - 7:00 pm at the Chatham YMCA. Saturday morning pickup opens at 7:00 and will close at 8:20 am. We ask that you please arrive early on Saturday to avoid the last-minute rush before the race start. As an incentive, we will have coffee by 7:30am.
For your friends and family who want to join last minute, we’ll have race day registration available on both Friday and Saturday.

Weather Policy
March weather is CRAZY!! However, there's really no way to reschedule an event that requires so much Town support and coordination. Therefore, we will hold the race rain or shine. The race directors have the ability to cancel the race if we deem the weather too unsafe for the runners, volunteers, and police officers who will be involved.
