Description
The Schenck Forest trail race is a unique challenge in Raleigh's hidden gem of trails. This is 6.2mile trail race that consist mainly of single track trail through the creeks and hills of Scheck Forest adjacent to Umstead Park. The course will wind throughout the forest crossing streams, bridges, and along the sandy banks of Richland Creek.
Purpose and Community Support:
This race benefits a local 501(c)3 non-profit named Hope and Vine . "Our mission is to equip young women who have aged out of foster care to live with purpose and freedom. We believe everyone is uniquely created with value, and designed to live with purpose. Our circumstances do not determine our future. We are defined by our redemption, not our past" Some proceeds and all donations will go directly to Hope and Vine.
The race venue:
The Carl Alwin Schenck Memorial Forest is a 245 acre forest located in western Wake County about 10 minutes from the NC State campus. It is managed by N.C. State as a teaching and research forest to demonstrate the multiple benefits generated by an actively-managed forest.
