Description

RACE DATE CONFIRMED! Run the Rodanthe on April 9, 2022

We are awaiting word as to whether the race will be allowed on 4/9/2022. Watch this space for updates

RACE UPDATE: NCDOT will not allow the race to happen on 3/5/2022 as the Rodante Bridge will not yet be cleared for pedestrian/vehicular traffic.

We will communicate with everyone as soon as we have a firm date set. We thank you all for your enthusiasm, support, and continued patience!

Run the Rodanthe has sold out!

Our waitlist has been activiated now that all spaces are sold. Put your name on the wait list and you will be contacted when and if a space becomes available.

Be the first to RUN THE RODANTHE Bridge - Hatteras Island, North Carolina, in early 2022. Construction of this bridge is nearing completion and we have been granted permission to hold a race just prior to its opening to vehicular traffic. Enjoy stunning views of OBX and the Pamlico Sound from this unique vista.

The TENTATIVE date to RUN THE RODANTHE is Saturday, March 5, 2022 - however, this date is subject to change as the bridge opening date has not yet been confirmed - it may be a little earlier or later depending on the bridge construction progress - it's getting close to completion!

We will be offering a 5M and 5K event.  5 milers will start near the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Association Building (23646 NC-12, Rodanthe, NC 27968) and run or walk the whole distance of the bridge (2.4 miles) out and back, with a little extra to complete the 5-mile distance. 5K racers will start and finish at the same point as the 5 milers but will have an earlier turnaround to complete the 5K distance.

This is going to be a sellout event, so if you don't want to miss out, you can reserve your space by registering now. If the date changes and you can't make it, your race fee is refundable* for a period of one week after we announce the confirmed date.

Early Bird Pricing:

  • $40.00 for the 5M
  • $30.00 for the 5K

Prices will increase by $10.00 in each category once the confirmed date is announced.

All participants will receive a commemorative race medal and race shirt - design previews coming soon!

5 Mile participants will also receive a reusable/packable cup, perfect for tucking in your pocket during this cupless race. No paper cups are allowed on the bridge; water will be available for 5 Mile participants at the turnaround. Use your reusable cup or bring your favorite water bottle. 5K runners should bring a water bottle; water will be available at the start and finish

Postrace party with Music, Beer, refreshments including hot sandwiches, coleslaw & beans provided by the Chicamacomico Life Saving Station; additional items will be available for purchase by participants and spectators. You must be 21 or older to purchase or consume alcohic beverages, be prepared to show ID.

This is a rain-or-shine event and no refunds will be offered for weather or other reasons, except as outlined above.

Any Covid-19 restrictions, such as masking or distancing, that are in place at race time will be observed. Details about Covid-19 compliance will be emailed to participants as part of pre-race instructions.

*Applied credit card fees are not refundable
