COVID-19 - Event Postponement Update

New Date: March 13, 2021

Dear Participant,

It is with tremendous regret that we have made the decision to extend the initial postponement of the Run for the Gold 5K until March 13, 2021. As you are aware, Governor Cooper has declared a State of Emergency for the State of North Carolina that currently prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people. Governor Cooper has mapped out a plan to open up the state, which includes 3 phases. Looking through the 3 phases of opening up North Carolina, it has become evident to us that the Run for the Gold cannot be run on June 20th, 2020.

As such, we are contacting our runners, our volunteers and our sponsors to inform them of our decision to place the safety of our runners and our volunteers over our desire to hold the Run for the Gold 5K . This decision has been a difficult one and one that our planning committee has agonized over. We have tried to come up with creative ways to run the race safely, but due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we do not believe that this is possible.

We also realize that our wonderful participants are likely to have been impacted financially as well due to the Pandemic and the economic losses that are associated with the stay-at-home order. We are contacting our participants to ask them what they would like Run for the Gold 5K to do with their registration fees. There are three ways to proceed going forward. As you know, the Run for the Gold net proceeds will be used for to purchase outdoor fitness equipment for the local Thomasville community, and the residents of United Church Homes & Services at Piedmont Crossing, so the first option would be to allow the Run for the Gold 5K to use your 2020 registration fee to use your registration fee for the purchase of the outdoor fitness equipment. The second is to defer your registration for the 2021 race. The third is option is to request a refund of your registration fee. We are happy to return the money to you, especially in these difficult financial times.

In a nut-shell, please let us know how you would like to proceed no later than May 10th, 2020 : 1) Donate your 2020 registration fee towards the purchase of the outdoor fitness equipment, 2) Defer your registration fee to the 2021 race or 3) Refund your registration fee.

Respectfully,

The RunTimeRaces Team
